I am very excited to be a part of the Soaring Heights Special Education team. I will be the Elementary Significant Support Needs teacher. Prior to coming to Soaring Heights, I was the School Special Education Facilitator and Special Education teacher at Aspen Ridge. I am going into my 16th year of teaching. I have taught special education for 2 years and then general education grades Pre-K through 3rd for 13 years. Prior to teaching, I had a 10 year career in business management.
I have a B.A. in Public Relations from Auburn University. My teaching certificate is from Mercer University. I have a M.S. in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I am currently working on my second masters in Special Education with a specialization in autism and developmental disabilities from University of Texas at the Permian Basin.
I have been married for 21 years. I have a daughter currently enrolled in nursing school in Iowa and a son who is going to Augustana College in the fall to play baseball. My youngest son will be a freshman at Legacy High School. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking, hanging out with my dogs, being with my family, reading, working out, and watching football and baseball. My favorite teams are the Auburn Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos.
I am looking forward to meeting my students and families. I love working and partnering with parents and colleagues. I believe that all students can learn—you just have to find the key to unlock their full potential.
