Bridget Shahinian

I grew up in Vermont then attended school in Tacoma, WA for a couple of years and moved to Colorado in 1999 to complete my bachelor's degree.  After teaching preschool for several years, I had three children and stayed home with them for a while. While being a mom was amazing and busy, I knew I wanted to go back to teaching in a different environment and decided to pursue secondary education. I received an M.A.Ed in Secondary English Language Arts from the University of Phoenix and completed my student teaching at Erie High School in 2010. I substitute taught in St. Vrain for a year and then worked as a Special education paraprofessional at Red Hawk Elementary. This experience along with my son's diagnosis with autism in 2012, led me to obtain a master's in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

Since then, I have been teaching special education resource at Erie Middle School for the past six years. I taught resource at Aspen Ridge Preparatory for one year before that. My husband and I live here in Erie and we have three children. A ten-year-old daughter who attends Erie Elementary, a 12-year old who will attend Soaring Heights and a 14- year old who will be a new Erie High School freshman. Outside of school, I love to travel, snowboard, hike, read and watch my kids in all of their activities such as dance, basketball, football, and gymnastics.

Special Education and specifically, Affective Education is a personal passion for me and I am excited and honored to join this team at Soaring Heights to support the needs of our students and spread compassion and inclusion for all children!
