- I am excited to be teaching at Soaring Heights this year! Third grade is an amazing year to be with students, as they are continuing to figure out who they are and what life is all about. It will be a joy to watch them as they gain more independence and confidence throughout this school year. I am thrilled to get to know you and your child as we finish out the year together. I am from a military family so that kept us moving around quite a bit. Alabama and Virginia are two places I lived that are near and dear to me. I earned an undergraduate degree in Justice and Public Safety and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. Teaching is my second career path. After over twenty years in Human Resources, I took an opportunity to be a part of something more important, with strong community ties. Since 2017 I have been substitute-teaching (long and short term), para-educating, and student teaching. I have worked with all levels of classrooms from PK-8 and special needs. I will promote a classroom of positivity, where students feel welcomed, accepted, and appreciated for who they are. Their accomplishments, big or small, will be celebrated. Their challenges will be celebrated as well, for these are opportunities for us to learn and grow as a classroom community. I fully support Soaring Heights' belief in RISE expectations of students and staff. My husband Scott and I have been married 23 years and have three lovely children. My daughter is in her freshman year at CSU. My two sons attend school at Soaring Heights, in eighth grade and fifth grade. Both boys are very dedicated to competitive soccer and the youngest is equally as dedicated to mixed martial arts. We have two boxer dogs and two kitties. I look forward to working as part of the team at Soaring Heights, and building strong relationships within the school community.
