Universal Preschool (UPK)
The Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado program provides state-funded preschool for eligible four-year-olds. Children must be 4 years old on or before October 1 to qualify. All four-year-olds are eligible for 15 hours of free preschool each week, with additional hours available for children who meet qualifying factors such as family income, dual language learning, or an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Families must complete both the UPK Colorado application and the SVVSD preschool application to secure funding and placement.

Special Education Services
Special Education within St. Vrain Valley Schools identifies children ages birth to 21 who may be eligible to receive special education services. Federal and state law require eligible children to receive free preschool once they turn 3 years old. The Soaring Heights Preschool team works collaboratively with the Child Find staff in the assessment, identification, and programming for children with disabilities. If a child qualifies for special education services, the Child Find team partners with parents and guardians to determine the appropriate placement and services based on each student’s individual needs.
