I grew up in New York and earned my bachelor's degree in Geology from Hofstra University in 2009 before moving to Colorado, where I received my master's degree in Secondary Science Education from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2011. I began my teaching career at Imagine Charter School in the St. Vrain Valley School District, where I taught middle school science and math for three years. I then spent five years teaching middle school science in Mapleton Public Schools before returning to St. Vrain in 2019 to join the Soaring Heights team.
I love teaching middle school science because of the energy students bring to class every day—it's never boring! Middle school is the perfect time for hands-on investigations, creative problem-solving, and helping students develop the skills to think like scientists. I enjoy preparing students for high school by building their confidence, curiosity, and ability to ask questions, collect evidence, and make sense of the world around them.
Outside of school, I enjoy rock climbing at Rifle Mountain Park and the Flatirons, traveling, spending time with my wife—who is also an educator in St. Vrain—and unwinding with a good book, a great TV series, playing music, or seeing live music whenever I can. I'm excited to continue sharing my passion for science with the students and families at Soaring Heights.
