Bio
Who else is ready for this school year to begin? I know I am! It's such a pleasure to be returning to Soaring Heights, and I look forward to working together with parents, students and fellow colleagues to make this a successful year for all. I was born and raised in Arizona and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. I taught 5th grade while working on my Master's. Upon completion of my Master’s degree, I was offered the opportunity to teach conversational English in South Korea for one year. I then returned to Arizona and taught 3rd and 5th grades. I married my husband, who was in the military, and we moved to North Carolina, where I taught 6th grade Language Arts. I then took a few years off (8 to be exact!) to stay home with my three children. During that time we moved to Washington, DC, back to Yuma, and then to Okinawa, Japan. While in Japan, I returned to teaching 4th and 5th grades with the Department of Defense schools. Just when we thought our adventures with the Marine Corps were over, we were offered a transfer to Stuttgart, Germany, which we happily accepted. While there, I made the decision to substitute teach at the elementary school and traveled extensively throughout Europe. My husband retired from the Marine Corps in 2019, and we are ecstatic to now call Erie home. Outside of teaching, I love exploring new places and cultures with my family, reading, baking, and trying to keep up with my family on the slopes. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing children learn and grow throughout the year. I look forward to working with you!
