- Bio
- Hello Eagles! My name is Tucker Ewer and I am very excited to be teaching Instrumental Music here at Soaring Heights. Before coming back home to Colorado, I taught band and orchestra at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. I was drawn to join the team at Soaring Heights because I feel that the focus on neuroscience has such close ties to music. Learning music activates parts of the brain that are otherwise unused, and I am incredibly excited to start exploring that further with our amazing student musicians. I received my degree in Music Education from The University of Texas at Austin in 2013 and I have been teaching band and orchestra ever since. I’ve taught music at Conifer High School, Arvada High School, and North Arvada Middle School during my career in Colorado. One of my favorite things about teaching instrumental music is that I get to improve my skills on all the instruments! That being said, my main instruments are trumpet in band and cello in orchestra. My wife, Laura, is a music therapist in the Denver area and we have 4 cats and a sweetheart of a dog named Nola. Some fun facts about me: I marched in the Texas Longhorn Band for 4 years. I was one of the first people in the stadium for the 2009 Rose Bowl! I worked on several music history projects with Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens. His college degree is also in music! I used to play trumpet in a band called “6 Foot Joe and the Red Hot Rhinos”.
